Calculate how many shares to buy based on your account size, risk tolerance, and stop-loss.

Frequently asked questions

How is position size calculated?

(Account size × risk %) ÷ (entry price − stop-loss price) = number of shares. This sizes the trade so that if it hits your stop-loss, you lose exactly the dollar amount you intended to risk, not more.

What risk percentage should I use?

Many traders risk 1-2% of their account per trade so that a string of losses doesn't wipe out the account, but this is a personal risk-tolerance decision, not something this tool recommends.

Does this tell me when to enter or exit a trade?

No — it only sizes a trade you've already planned, using an entry and stop-loss you provide. It doesn't predict prices or generate trade signals, and isn't financial advice.
