Frequently asked questions
Why does the input let me keep typing past the character limit shown?
That's intentional — the fields allow slightly more than the recommended cutoff (70 for title, 180 for description, versus the 60/160 recommendation) so you can keep typing and watch the counter and preview turn red instead of being hard-blocked right at the limit.
Is the preview an exact match for what Google will show?
It's an approximation — it truncates the title at 60 characters and the description at 160 with "..." appended, which are commonly cited limits, but Google actually truncates based on pixel width, not a fixed character count, so the real cutoff varies by which characters you use.
What do the green, yellow, and red counters mean?
Green is a safe length, yellow is a warning zone approaching the limit (past 50 characters for the title, 130 for the description), and red means you're over the recommended maximum (60/160) and likely to get truncated.
