How is WPM calculated?
Using the standard formula of (characters typed ÷ 5) ÷ minutes elapsed — dividing by 5 approximates the average English word length, which is the conventional way typing tests measure 'words' per minute.
When does the timer start?
The moment you type your first character, not when the passage appears — so you can read the passage first without it counting against your time.
How is accuracy measured?
As the percentage of typed characters that exactly match the target passage at the same position, including any mistakes you didn't correct before finishing.
