Where do the voices come from?
Your browser and operating system — this tool uses the Web Speech API's built-in synthesis, so the available voices and their quality depend on what your device already has installed, not a server-side text-to-speech engine.
Is any audio file created or uploaded?
No — speech is generated and played live in your browser; there's no audio file to download and nothing is sent to a server.
Why is the voice list empty at first?
Some browsers (Chrome especially) load voices asynchronously after the page loads — give it a second, and the list fills in on its own once the browser's voice list is ready.
