Is my audio sent to a server?
No — transcription runs through your browser's own speech recognition engine (built into Chrome/Edge), not a server this site controls. Check your browser's own privacy policy for exactly how it processes microphone audio.
Why doesn't this work in my browser?
The Web Speech API's recognition feature has inconsistent support — Chrome and Edge support it well, while Firefox and Safari have limited or no support at all. If the button doesn't do anything, that's most likely why.
Can it transcribe a language other than English?
Not from this tool as built — it's fixed to English (en-US). You'd need a different tool for other languages.
