Check your blood pressure category based on systolic and diastolic readings.

Frequently asked questions

What categories does this use?

The American Heart Association's five categories: Normal, Elevated, Hypertension Stage 1, Hypertension Stage 2, and Hypertensive Crisis — based on your systolic (top) and diastolic (bottom) numbers.

Is this a medical diagnosis?

No — it's informational only. A single reading can be affected by many factors (stress, caffeine, time of day), and a Hypertensive Crisis result warrants immediate medical attention. Talk to a doctor about your specific numbers.

Which number matters more, systolic or diastolic?

Neither alone — the category is based on whichever number falls into the higher-risk range. For example, a normal systolic with an elevated diastolic still counts as the higher category.
