Why does this tool need an internet connection?
Unlike most tools on this site, it loads the JsBarcode rendering library from a CDN at runtime instead of bundling it, so it needs network access the first time you use it.
Why do some values throw an error?
Formats like EAN-13, EAN-8, and UPC require an exact digit count and a valid check digit, so entering the wrong number of digits or non-numeric characters triggers a validation error from the barcode library.
What file format does the download use?
An SVG vector file, not a PNG or JPG — it stays crisp at any print size.
