How is the reading time calculated?
Word count divided by the selected reading speed, then split into whole minutes and the remaining seconds.
Which reading speed should I pick?
200 wpm ("Average") approximates typical adult silent-reading speed — use "Slow" (150 wpm) for dense or technical writing, and "Fast" (300 wpm) for content people tend to skim.
How does it count words?
It splits the text on whitespace, so runs of extra spaces or line breaks don't inflate the count — but it doesn't parse sentence structure, so a line of numbers or symbols separated by spaces still counts as "words".
