How do I calculate a percentage increase or decrease?
Percentage change = ((new value − old value) ÷ old value) × 100. A positive result is an increase, a negative result is a decrease — this tool works it out automatically.
How do I find what percentage one number is of another?
Divide the part by the whole and multiply by 100. For example, 30 is what percent of 150? (30 ÷ 150) × 100 = 20%.
Is percentage change the same as percentage points?
No — this tool calculates percentage change (relative). For percentage points (the plain difference between two percentages, e.g. 40% to 45% is 5 points), just subtract the two values directly.
