Markdown Table Generator
NEWBuild a table visually, or paste data from a spreadsheet, and get clean Markdown table syntax with proper alignment.
How to use Markdown Table Generator
- Edit headers and cells directly, or click "Paste data" to import tab- or comma-separated data from a spreadsheet.
- Use "+ Column" / "+ Row" to resize the table, and the X buttons to remove one.
- Click a column's alignment label to cycle through default, left, center and right.
- Copy the generated Markdown, or download it as a .md file.
Frequently asked questions
Can I paste data from Excel or Google Sheets?
Yes — copy a range of cells and paste it into "Paste data". Spreadsheet copies are tab-separated, which is detected automatically; plain CSV (comma-separated) works the same way. The first row becomes the table headers.
What does the alignment option actually change?
It sets the colons in the row under the headers (e.g. :--- for left, :---: for center, ---: for right), which is how Markdown tables tell a renderer how to align each column's text. Clicking a column's alignment label cycles through the options.
What happens to a cell containing a | or a line break?
A pipe is auto-escaped to \| so it doesn't break the table structure, and a line break is converted to <br> — both are handled automatically, nothing to do on your end.
Why does the output have extra spaces padding every cell?
"Align columns in the output" pads every cell so the pipes line up vertically in the raw Markdown source — easier to read and edit by hand. It renders identically either way; turn it off for the shortest possible output.
